Columbiana County Chapter of Schizophrenics Anonymous
The Columbiana County Chapter of Schizophrenics Anonymous is a confidential self-help group for adults with schizophrenia or other schizophrenic-related mental illnesses. Self-help groups offer social acceptance, support and understanding, information and education, positive reinforcement, empowerment, enhanced social skills, and self-esteem.
The group meets the second and fourth Friday of each month at the Counseling Center in Lisbon from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. This chapter is affiliated with the National Schizophrenia Foundation, and the group leader has been trained by this foundation.
Northern Support Group
A Northern Support Group meets every Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Salem YWCA at 230 North Lincoln Avenue (the old Middle School). Anyone who receives mental health services in Columbiana County is welcome to attend. The group is facilitated by Thelma Rist, Peer Recovery Specialist.
Shining Reflections Support Group
Shining Reflections provides peer, job, and socialization support and education that identifies and responds to the changing needs of people with mental illness and other disabilities. Trained peers help participants take a step further in their recovery and work as a team with Counseling Center's Case Management Department.
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Columbiana County
NAMI offers ongoing support, help to those people who are accepting and coping with the problem of a loved one diagnosed with a mental illness, a learning time for those newly diagnosed family members, and an opportunity for family members to help reduce the sitgma associated with a mental illness diagnosis.
