Peer Support Training

One of the most powerful elements of recovery for many people is the support they give and receive from others who are also recovering with mental illnesses.  The Columbiana County Recovery Initiative offers Peer Support Skills Training to any interested recovering adult who receives mental health services in Columbiana County.  this training covers the key elements of peer support, such as effective communication and problem solving.

Shining Reflections offers a Peer Mentor Program - Helping People Help Themselves.  Participants are given an opportunity to work on socialization skills and participate in support groups.  Information is provided on local services and resources, and education programs.  Trained peers help participants take a step further in their recovery and work as a team with Counseling Center's Case Management Department.
