The Columbiana County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness offers the "Family to Family" education series, a free twelve-week program for family members of persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. The course provides support and information to family members about mental illnesses and equips them to assist their loved ones in recovery. Some of the topics covered are: communicating effectively both with loves ones who have mental illnesses and with mental health professionals; understanding and coping with one's own feelings about the illness; crisis management; self care; and problem solving methods that are effective with dilemmas that surface in families in which a member is recovering from mental illness.
Family to family is taught by trained facilitators who are members of the Columbiana County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Registration is required.
